Reflect
While Martha prepared the house, cooked, cleaned, and waited on their guests, Mary sat at the Lord’s feet. When Martha complained, Jesus told her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing” (Luke 10:41-42).
Pray
Dear Lord, I too, am worried about many things—
the people I love, the state of the world,
and yes, even the condition of my house.
Guide my thoughts and goals to the one thing
that matters more than all of it:
My relationship with you.
Help me sit at your feet and listen.
I know our time together will strengthen me
to do everything else even better.
Amen.
Act
Imagine Jesus saying, “Martha, Martha, you are worried about many things,” but replace Martha’s name with your own. How will you answer him?
