Daily Reading from the USCCB: 1 Peter 1:10-16
The selections from First Peter come to a conclusion with today’s reading. The author gives general guidance for Christian life.
The addressees of the letter should love one another and make good use of the gifts they have received– whatever they may be. They are to love one another and care for one another. They are to see to it that God is glorified in them. They should not be surprised if there are trials, but should look upon them as shares in the sufferings of Christ.
Over all, the First Letter of Peter is an exhortation to fortitude and faith. It calls these groups of young Christians to a life of faith-filled optimism. How optimistic, how faith-filled is my life in the Lord?
