Daily Reading from the USCCB: Joshua 3:7-10a, 11, 13-17
The Book of Joshua recounts the conquest of the Promised Land by the Israelites and the distribution of the land among the twelve tribes. In today’s reading God leads the Israelites across the Jordan River into the land of Canaan just as he led them through the Red Sea out of the land of Egypt. Crossing water indicated both beginning and ending of God’s liberating plan.
The Lord leads the Israelites to where he wants them to be and gets them there in his own ways. Today the Lord leads his Church to where he wants it to be and gets it there in his own ways.
The Lord guides each of us, too. What confidence do I have in the Lord’s plans for me?
