Sharing the Word for March 22, 2023

Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent

March 22, 2023
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Isaiah 49:8-15

A passage of comfort and reassurance. God will look out for his people and bring them home from exile. If God can look out for a whole people he can look out for individuals, too.

If we seem untouched by God’s comforting action, perhaps it’s because we are looking for it in the wrong place–in self-satisfaction or in strokes to our vanity. God will provide for us in ways that do us the most good, not necessarily in ways that we think are the most appropriate.

A crucial source of assurance is the Sacrament of Reconciliation. God wants to give us his forgiveness, and there’s no better place–no better way–for us to seek it than in the saving encounter of the sacrament.
