Sharing the Word for May 6, 2023

Saturday of the Fourth Week of Easter

May 6, 2023
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 13:44-52

Paul and Barnabas are not successful with the Jews at Antioch in Pisidia. So, they offer the good news of salvation to the Gentiles.

This would become their standard mode of procedure: first preaching to the Jews, and if the Jews did not accept the apostles’ message, offering it to the Gentiles. Without fail at least some Gentiles accepted the message of salvation with joy and gratitude. The news of Jesus spread further and further afield.

God does not always work in ways we expect. But he does always brings about his own kind of success. Paul and Barnabas were failures as far as their ministry to the Jews was concerned. But that failure led to a success far beyond what they had looked for.
