Reflect
Differences of opinion can bring out the worst in us. We want to prove our point of view, and we get frustrated when we feel unheard or misunderstood. Part of our beautiful human nature is that we are all different, and God is the only one who will ever completely understand us.
Pray
Dear Jesus,
Help me relinquish my need to “be right.”
Help me see people as you do, knowing you love them
even when their ideas are different from mine.
Help me be open to other points of view, listening to them as you do,
with a respectful mind and generous heart.
Act
Think of someone with whom you frequently disagree. Imagine Jesus joining in the conversation and try to listen as he does.
