Reflect
St. Julian of Norwich wrote, “This beloved soul was preciously knitted to God in its making, by a knot so subtle and so mighty that it is oned in God.” Julian never mentions the war, plague, and papal schism she lived through. Instead she focuses on God’s peace and power, which give us the serenity to fear nothing.
Pray
As Julian said,
“We are most precious
to you when we stumble.”
God, our Mother,
look tenderly on our vulnerability.
Act
When something bad happens, do we blame God? In the next crisis or catastrophe set aside the punitive images of God, and reflect with Julian on the fact that “there is no anger in God.”
