From the perspective of the cross near the point of death, there is little one can do but acknowledge the tremendous suffering that has occurred. Women and men all around the world recognize this cry of lament. The suffering, abuse, and marginalization o our sisters and brothers happen in myriad forms and in many places. Still, the good news—the Gospel—comes in remembering who God is. God is the one who will be there for us! God is the one who is concerned and cares for us! God is the one who, as we pray in Psalm 34, hears the cry of the poor!
