Race Ahead!

“I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.”—Philippians 3:12

Don’t let the past hold you back from running the race before you toward the ultimate goal—life with joy and community in heaven, the eternal life of love fulfilled. Past mistakes, past sins, and past disappointments can often form a daily dark cloud over our heads. Pray to put all the past in your loving Father’s healing hands. St. Paul made huge mistakes. But after his conversion, he wrote to the Philippians: “I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead” (Philippians 3:13). Leave the dark clouds of the past in the past. Run toward the bright light of God before you.

Lord, help me keep that goal—you—clearly in sight! Amen.
