Just as God spoke to the ancients in their moment in time, we trust that God will do the same for us. The Gospels thus lead us both to faith in the Jesus who lived in our history and to faith in the eternally risen Christ, who is still teaching and still hidden within his people. The final and full word, therefore, is that the authority of the Bible lies not just in ancient texts but in the living Christ of history: church, community, and our own experience confirming its truth. The mystery is “Christ among you, your hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27)—this is the living Bible!
