Reflect
News commentators, it seems, often respond to questions with “Absolutely,” when the topic is actually riddled with doubts, failures, and seems far from certain. In fact our experience seems to reveal few absolutes in the news.
Pray
God of the Universe,
Creator, Sustainer, and Breath of Inspiration:
you are at the base
of all that I believe.
You are absolute,
rock-bottom, mountain-high,
within and without.
I rely on the Truth that is you.
Help me cling to the certainty of faith
and resist embracing declarations of fact
that waver, change and even disintegrate.
You alone are God.
Act
I will view, listen and read news and commentary on world events with a renewed sense that all things are passing. God alone is forever.
