Reflect
The communion of saints is marked by huge variety—personalities different as the seasons. Some are sunny as June, others wintry as January. Neurotic, confident, alcoholic, trusting, educated, ignorant, bold, reserved: they represent the vast spectrum of humanity. Future generations will celebrate us, because God never loses sight of one beloved daughter or son. All are held in God’s embrace.
Pray
Good and gracious God, when our energy for justice
or our compassion flags,
help us turn to your saints for life.
Act
Romans 8:35 asks, “Who will separate us from the love of Christ?” Possible calamities follow, like death and famine. Compile your own list of what can’t divide you from Christ. Then you too can answer, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
