“O come, O come, Emmanuel.” Emmanuel, the name given to Jesus, means “God is with us.” God is truly here among us—here, in the thick of it and in the light of it. God’s voice is all around us.

Jesus,
You whisper to us:
in the bird’s morning song,
in the cry of a baby,
in the pitter-patter of the rain,
in the color of fresh blooms,
in the laughter of a grandparent,
in the heart that grieves,
in the smell of your favorite meal,
in the help of a friend.
Thank you for your voice.
