God’s First Book

yellow lillies

Reflect

St. Bonaventure said creation was God’s first book, leading us back to God if we “read” it properly. Choose some natural wonder: a leaf, turtle, flower, stone, cat, tree or blade of grass. Remember: Jesus said “consider the lilies,” not look at them or smell them, but reflect on them. What does it show you about God?

Pray

God you hide in surprising graces:
An angle of light, a fragrant flower,
The bend of a stem or willow branch.
Help me see you there anew.
