Reflect
One of the Resurrection accounts has Mary of Magdala at the tomb weeping. Confusing Jesus with the gardener, she does not realize it is he until Jesus turns, looks at her and says her name, “Mary.” Then, her eyes are opened and she recognizes Jesus.
Pray
Dear Jesus, there is such power when you look at me
and tenderly speak my name. Sometimes I do not recognize you
because of the chaos swirling around me.
But when you look at me and speak, everything changes.
Your words and presence can change me in an instant.
Help me to let you speak to me in tender love.
Amen.
Act
Imagine yourself as Mary at the tomb, and Jesus looks at you and speaks your name. Is there a special name Jesus has for you in love? If not, ask him to give you a new name.
