King David is one of the most colorful, unique characters in the Bible. When he was king, he committed a grave sin by taking Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, and conceiving a child with her. While we hear the story from David’s perspective, we have no indication of the events from Bathsheba’s perspective. Was she tricked? Forced? Manipulated?
Pray
Father of mercy, many times in the Bible there are messy stories
where we do not have the full extent of the story.
When I encounter the Word of God, keep my heart open,
remembering there are always multiple sides to the story being told.
Help me to place myself in the shoes of all these different men and women
so their stories can be honored and heard.
Act
Reflect on the relationships in your life: family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, mentors. Remember there is always more to each of them than what you can see.
