Reflect
All of our lives are touched by cancer in one way or another. Either as a survivor, or struggling with a current diagnosis, or perhaps in the diagnosis of someone we love. It can overwhelm us. Reflect on how Jesus is right here to help us carry the fear and sorrow. “Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).
Pray
Jesus, how do I let this go?
I don’t know how.
Today I will envision coming to you, with your arms
wide open, and your heart aflame.
Your arms that invite me to hand over this medical burden
that I cannot carry alone anymore.
I ask that you take it.
I pray you take it now.
Letting it go.
Letting you carry it.
As tears of relief now come, I’m awash in your peace.
Act
Wherever you find yourself today, in a private moment, go that extra step and fall to your knees to pray about this medical situation, even for a brief moment. This can deepen our connection to the divine in all sorts of places—at home, work, hospitals, medical offices.
