Reflect
We are always working to be good enough. Good enough for our family, for our marriage, for our friends, for the world around us. Sometimes we feel as if we will never be good enough to be fully loved by those around us—or by God—because shame creeps in and tells us only parts of us are good. Yet, when God created us he not only knew we were wholly good, but he reveled in it: “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.”
Pray
To the one who loves all of me, may I come to know deeply
the breath of life that you shared with me.
May I come to know your love that draws me—
whole as I am—closer to your heart.
May the lies of the world hold no claim over me.
May I know that to you, I am good.
Amen.
Act
After creating humankind, in Genesis 1:31 God exclaims that it is very good. Today, pray with the truth that you are good, and that God calls you to participate in his goodness every day, simply by reflecting on the phrase “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”
