Daily Reading from the USCCB: John 20:11-18
Mary Magdalene was looking for the body of Jesus. She finds somebody that she thinks is the gardener and asks for his help. Then the “gardener” speaks her name. In a bright instant of recognition she knows that it’s Jesus.
The life of every believer involves looking for Jesus. In our prayer life, in our participation in the sacraments, in our care for one another, we are always–consciously or unconsciously–looking for Jesus. Deep in our hearts we know that we can never be happy–never fulfilled unless we’re with him.
And Jesus looks for us too. In all sorts of ways he reaches out to us and calls our name and waits for us to recognize him.
