Daily Reading from the USCCB: Psalm 116:12-13, 14-15, 16-17
Today’s reflection is based on Psalm 116–a song of gratitude. The psalmist promises to offer a cup of salvation for God’s goodness to him–a libation of wine poured out in gratitude for what God has done for his beloved. The psalmist promised to offer this sacrifice as a public offering–a sacrifice of thanksgiving in response to God’s generosity. The psalmist may have had to face death, but he remains God’s servant.
We all owe God for his goodness challenging us to continuous thanksgiving. Indeed we owe more than we can ever give back to God. We can only strive to continue to be thankful. “How shall I make a return to the Lord for all the good he has done for me?”
