Sharing the Word for December 16, 2020

Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent

December 16, 2020
Daily reading from the USCCB: Isaiah 45:6c-8, 18, 21c-25

Through Isaiah the Lord God continues to speak to his people of their salvation.

The Lord is the master of light and darkness. Without struggle or effort he brings down justice like a shower of rain. It was this Lord–he alone–who created the earth to be fruitful. It is in the Lord that righteousness and power descend to earth. The only requirement for participation in the power and the glory of the Lord is to open ourselves to him. “Turn to me and be safe,” the Lord says.

It is this same Lord who promises security and salvation to us if we accept them. God is the Lord of salvation. He was so at the time of the prophets. He is so still today.
