Sharing the Word for February 14, 2023

Memorial of Saints Cyril and Methodius

February 14, 2023
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Genesis 6:5-8; 7:1-5, 10

Human sinfulness persisted. Human beings were continuously and almost universally decadent. God became disgusted with what he had created and planned to wipe out humanity and the rest of creation as well.

However, there was still some bit of good in mankind symbolized by the favor that the Lord found in Noah. In addition, God loved his creation too much to wipe it out simply and universally. Distinctions would be made. Noah and his family would be spared and the animals in sufficient number to keep their issue alive. Whenever God punishes there’s a dimension of mercy.

It is so still with us. Our world is deeply sinful yet God continues to show us his kindness and mercy. Praise and thanks be to him.

  1. Just because there is original sin, doesn’t mean all is lost. The devil doesn’t have to win the entire shebang. Yes, the devil will get his share due to the deal that was made between God and the devil pertaining to the garden of Eden. As we all know, the devil currently controls the world, but God still made it, and for that reason, God will have the last word. As for me, my life is still in God’s hands, (at least thus far, lol).
