Tuesday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time
February 16, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Genesis 6:5-8; 7:1-5, 10
Human sinfulness persisted. Human beings were continuously and almost universally decadent. God became disgusted with what he had created and planned to wipe out humanity and the rest of creation as well.
However, there was still some bit of good in mankind symbolized by the favor that the Lord found in Noah. In addition, God loved his creation too much to wipe it out simply and universally. Distinctions would be made. Noah and his family would be spared and the animals in sufficient number to keep their issue alive. Whenever God punishes, there’s a dimension of mercy.
It is so still with us. Our world is deeply sinful yet God continues to show us his kindness and mercy. Praise and thanks be to him.
