Daily Reading from the USCCB: Hebrews 12:1-4
This vast cloud of heroes of faith should be a source of energy and encouragement for us. It should inspire us to faithfulness, and lead us to rid ourselves of the sinfulness that is inherent in our lack of courage.
We should be especially inspired by the example of Jesus–the chief architect of the Christian faith. He had to endure the suffering and shame of the cross before receiving the joy and glory of his heavenly triumph.
Jesus endured opposition by sinners in order to make available to us strength and courage. We are called to continue moving forward like competitors in a race toward the goal that is life in Jesus. All these examples should remove any likelihood of weariness on our part.
