Sharing the Word for March 24, 2022

Thursday of the Third Week of Lent

March 24, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Luke 11:14-23

Jesus’ enemies can’t bring themselves to acknowledge that Jesus is from God. They conclude that he is in league with the devil.

Jesus points out that that doesn’t make much sense. If Jesus overcomes the power of the devil by the power of the devil, then the kingdom of the devil is in serious disarray. They should be glad about that. If on the other hand Jesus overcomes the power of the devil by the power of God, that should serve as a sign that the kingdom of God is near, and it should be a source of reassurance.

Jesus couldn’t satisfy his enemies by argument because they didn’t want to be persuaded by him. How open are we to persuasion by the Lord?
