Sharing the Word for May 11, 2021

Tuesday of the Sixth Week of Easter

May 11, 2021
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Psalm 138:1-2ab, 2cd3-3, 7c-8

Psalm 138–appointed to be read today–is a hymn of a grateful heart. The psalmist gives thanks because God’s right hand saves him. God has heard the words of his mouth. He will worship at God’s temple and be grateful to God’s name.

God answers when the psalmist calls and builds up his strength within him. God will continue to strengthen the psalmist and pursue his work within him. It is not because of the psalmist’s goodness that God cares for him, but because of God’s faithful kindness.

The Lord looks out for me here and now, and continually works at saving me. My response has to be ongoing gratitude–a grateful heart. How grateful is my heart? How do I express my gratitude?
