Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter
May 20, 2020
Daily Reading from the USCCB: John 16:12-15
When Jesus tells His disciples that the Spirit Who is to come will guide them to all truth, He doesn’t mean that the Spirit will bring them new information. Rather, the Spirit will bring from the Father new insight into the meaning of Jesus’ person, ministry, and teaching. The Spirit will enable Jesus’ disciples to understand more deeply what Jesus is about, what Jesus does, who Jesus is.
This activity of the Spirit will take place in the context of the Church. Through inspired teachers the Spirit will interpret the truth of Jesus–the truth that comes from the Father.
Through the Church we have access to the action of the Spirit. The Spirit of Jesus is active there in us and for us now.
