Daily Reading from the USCCB: Acts 22:30; 23:6-11
Paul has now arrived in Jerusalem and is engaged in a controversy with the Jews about resurrection. He has been taken into custody for his own protection. While being guarded by the Romans, the Lord appears to him and tells him that he is to bear witness to the cause of Jesus in Rome just as he has done in Jerusalem.
The Acts of the Apostles is reaching its final chapters. It set out to record what happened after the resurrection of Jesus and how the earliest communities of faith were formed. St. Luke has shown his readers what the apostles–especially Paul–have accomplished. Now Paul is poised to move forward to the capital of world, from which he will proclaim the gospel everywhere.
