Sharing the Word for September 12, 2022 – Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time – Year 2

Monday of the Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time

September 12, 2022
Daily Reading from the USCCB: Luke 7:1-10

This reading is about faith and authority. The centurion has heard about Jesus and sends some of his Jewish friends to Jesus asking him to cure his slave who is dying. As Jesus approaches the centurion’s house, the Roman sends word to Jesus again. He doesn’t have to come all the way to his house. The centurion is convinced that all that Jesus has to do is give an order and the slave will be healed.

The centurion understands giving orders. He does it all the time. His soldiers obey him because he has authority over them. The centurion has faith in Jesus’ authority. “Just say it and it will happen.” And it does.

How have I experienced the authority of Jesus in my life?
